Melvin Trophy
Scout Sections  - 20/08/2001
The regions was represented by 2 scout troops - 38th/40th Cork - Ballinlough and 2nd Cork - South Parish.  Both teams did very well in the competition which was held in Castleconnel. Co. Limerick from 16th - 19th August.

The teams both finished inside the top 10 in 7th & 8th position respectively.  5 of the teams in the top 10 were from cork.  The trophy was won by St. Pauls from Waterford.

National Quiz 2001
The National Scout Quiz was held in Waterford on Saturday 17th February.  The 41st Cork - Passage finished in 3rd Place overall.  Pictures
The National Macaoimh Quiz was also held on Saturday the 17th February, but in Maynooth.  The 38th Cork representing the region at this event and finsihed very well. Pictures
 
New Headquarters Building

Scouting Ireland 2000
Final Report
The final report on the creation of a new scout assocaition was circulated during the summer to all regions and units, which includes the proposed constitution & rules.

The regiona will be meeting to finalise our position on the document before National Council.

Scout Link Award
A new 3 part award scheme is being introduced.  The scout link award is a common award with the Scout Assocaition of Northern Ireland and Scouting Ireland SAI.  The new award will be targeted at all sections and aims to promote linsk with scouts from different areas and assocaitions. All Unit Leaders were circulated with a pack contains further information.
  
National Council
The postponed National Council, due to Foot & Mouth restrictions will now be held in Galway on 7th October 2001.  All Unit & Regional delegates, as as always urged to take up their places.  In particular this year a decision will be taken on the formation of a New Assocaition, so it is important that you attend and vote.
Task Force Formed
At the recent special regional council meeting called to discuss the propsoed new assocaition, a task force was formed to investigate the matter further, report back to council and co-ordinate any other regional responses to this important issue.
