Venturers

Welcome
Venturers are the higest youth section in our association and members are between 16 and 21 years old.  There are currently 4 Venturer sections opperting in the region, in Carrigaline, Ballinlough, Blackrock &  More recently in the South Parish. 
Venturer activties tend to be more adventureous that scouts and often the events are more challenging.  A qucik look at the articles on this page should give you a good idea of what venturers do.  If you are interested in joining, check the Units Section of our website for details of meeting nights and locations.

Regional Events
Munster Region Hillwalk
As part of the National Snow Hike the Munster Region travelled to the Galtees on Sunday 14th January.  And even though it was lacking some snow the days was enjoyed by all.

Venturer Quiz 
The Blackrock Venturer Group hosted the Regional Venturer Quiz in Dunlops Social Club this year.  The quiz was a great sucess.

Ventact South
Ventact South is an event organised jointly by the four Scout & guide Associations in the Cork area, but is open to members from all over the country. The event regually attracts in excess of 350 venturers and is an activity weekend based in Kilcully Campsite.

Explorer Belt
Last years explorer belt challenge was held in Italy.  Teams of 2 venturers are landed in a spot and given a map and some money (£3 p/day), a list of project and a 200+ KM hike to complete within 10 days making back to the base camp.
Five Venturers from our region took part in the Explorer belt this year and all achieved it !
