Bracciano

Bracciano is situated some 20 miles North East of Rome.  It is a reasonable sized town, situated on the banks of Lake Bracciano.  The 2 other main towns on the Lake are Anguillara and Trevignano (Please excuse all Italian spelling mistakes!!).  Apologies to anyone not from Ireland, but to use an Irish equivalent, it might be very roughly the size of Urlingford (to pick a central town!).

It has:

A few supermarkets (all moderately small, but some very nice & good value.  In Bracciano itself, we'd reccomend SMA as the best option.

Lot's of small shops including:
Video Store
Computer Games
Ice Cream Parlour's
Many Cafe's
Hardware Stores
Jewellers
Bakers
Butchers
etc etc etc.

In other words you'll find most of what you need in the town.  The town is about a 20 minute walk from the site or a 2 minute drive.

There is quite an impressive castle in the town, which I'm ashamed to say we did not get to see!  Sorry, but there's just too many tourist attractions in Bracciano.

If you have enough of leaders with you to allow some time off, there is a really nice Irish Bar in Bracciano called Donnegans.  There was a Cork girl, Susan, working there, but we understand that she followed us home to Cork soon after our camp!   Consuela, the owners sister, is probably one of the loveliest, friendliest people you will ever meet.  It's wrong to single one person out - they're all great.
